Getting Indexed by Search Engines

Getting Indexed by Search Engines

If you read a lot of articles, guides, tutorials and any other materials about basic search engine optimization, getting indexed to search engines is the most important part of SEO after you’ve created your site and optimized its content.

What will you do after you’ve uploaded those web pages, optimized the content as well as your meta tags? Getting listed in SERPs of course! Here’s what learned about indexing web pages:

Submitting to Search Engines
Many would say that submitting your home page to search engines is just a waste of time. Well, if your trying to submit on all those search engines then you really are just wasting your time. You can still do this method but my advice is to submit only to what webmasters’ call “The Big Three”, namely Google, Yahoo and MSN.

You can still get your web pages indexed without having to do this method. There are other ways, which I think are much better, that can help you get your site indexed in SERPs.

The Power of Social Bookmarking
If you haven’t heard if Digg.com or StumbleUpon.com then you’re way behind in search engine optimization. These are samples of a social bookmarking sites which is similar to the ordinary bookmark tool we have in our web browsers’ menu bar. The difference between the ordinary bookmarking and with social bookmarking are:

* you can access your bookmarks on any computer you use just by registering an account;
* and share your bookmarked sites/links with other members

Why Should I Submit to Social Bookmarking Sites?
Here are the reasons I’ve learned why I submit to social bookmarking sites:

1.For fast indexing – high traffic social bookmarking sites are more frequently visited by search engine spiders. If you submit your site, the higher the chance you have getting indexed.
2.For traffic – people love interesting topics, important news, humor and tutorials.
3.Increase more traffic – posts on Digg, and other social bookmarking sites, also appears in SERPs, giving you a higher chance of visibility!

Social Networking Sites
Do you like Facebook or Twitter? These are social networking sites where you can submit your links. Isn’t that great?! Now the key to the successful use of social networking sites is you got to have lots of friends. Mingle with other members, join different groups, share your profile and be active, don’t just login to your account to post a link. This link building technique is very helpful if you use it properly.

I find social bookmarking and networking as a part of link building technique that you can both use for work and have fun at the same time. Because you get to meet other webmasters doing link building of their own, you can exchange SEO tips and secrets, and the normal internet users you can interact with while doing work. And best of all you can even earn extra income by offering link building services to companies/sites that needs help with their search engine rankings.

Sitemaps
There are two types of sitemaps we can use, the XML and HTML sitemaps.

.XML Sitemap – This sitemap is used to inform search engines of pages that are available for crawling in a website.

.HTML Sitemap – This sitemap is for your visitors. It is used as a guide/navigation for visitors who are looking for a specific page, product or service you might be offering.

Now, you’ll find these search engine optimization techniques quite easy to learn and do. Submitting your site or blog to the big three search engines can take you at least five minutes to do, social bookmarking and networking can be time consuming but it’s all worth it, and submitting sitemaps to search engines is a must-do if you want to get all your web pages indexed.

How to Raise your Rankings in the Search Engines With Some Basic SEO Search Engine Optimization Tips

I don’t know how many times I’ve been asked. “Many People ask How do I get traffic to my website?”

To best discuss this topic I should break this down into categories

1. Title Tags

The title Should contain keywords and keyword phrases that is important to your site. Our recommended maximum number of characters for this tag is 60.

Also when counting your characters remember that spaces are considered as well.

Titles should appeal to the reader otherwise even a top position will lose a lot of clicks.

For example, “shoes, nike shoes, best shoes, review shoes,” is unlikely to induce a click. What may induce a click would be like:

Shoes – Find out the latest styles on name brand shoes.

2. Description

The maximum number of characters I recommend for this Tag is 150. Any longer than this and it will only be cut off and may count against

your site being listed high in the search engines. Try to repeat your keywords that you used in your title in a proper sentence and in 3rd party. Advoid I, Me, Myself etc

3. Keywords

keywords My recommended maximum number of characters for this tag is 250. Any more than that may be considered spamming. Keep your keywords focused upon what your site is about.

Don’t think that if I use an assortment of different keywords that your site will be a seller. Targeted marketing is associated with your keywords.

4. Keyword Nesting

keyword nesting is nesting your top 5 most important keywords in the html page that the public will see. I would recommend using the keywords that you’ve used in your title, description.

5. Head Tags

Head Tags should be a repeat of your title tag. Most webmasters put their head tag right after the body tag.

6. Anchor Links

Anchor Links is one of the most important html tags that your site needs to gain search engine page rank

especially in google and msn.

How To Get A Better Website Position In Search Engines ? Advice And Tips On SEO

How To Get A Better Website Position In Search Engines ? Advice And Tips On SEO

It is an incredibly common situation to find yourself in; you have created your first website and you are very proud of how it looks and what it does, you have lots of great information on it, or products to sell, but there is just one thing missing…visitors!

You are not alone, and all is not lost.  What you require is a basic knowledge of search engine optimization, or SEO for short.  SEO is a huge subject, which cannot be covered in detail in any one article, but I will highlight some of the most fundamental points that you need to be aware of in order to drive traffic to your website.

Unless you are prepared to pay for traffic to your website by using adverts on other websites and on search results pages, you need your website to show up in the results pages when someone uses a search engine.  This is the only way to get a constant flow of visitors that you know are looking for what it is you can offer.

The best starting point is probably a rough overview of how search engines work, which will help you understand what it is you need to be doing to keep them happy.  While you must understand that this is a drastic simplification, what a search engine such as Google does when someone searches for something, is along the following lines.  It will sift through all the records it has of every web page it knows about, and see which ones are most relevant to the term being searched for. It then presents them in an order with the sites which it thinks are the most authoritative sources for that subject at the top.

What SEO involves, therefore, is doing the things that will let Google know what search terms your site is relevant to, and demonstrating that your site is an important and authoritative one on that subject.  The slightly more complicated part is how exactly you do that!  Google judges the importance or authority of a website to a large extent by looking at the number and type of other sites that have links to it.  Google sees a link to your site as a vote of confidence in your website by other webmasters.

You can roughly divide SEO activities into two main areas.  There are the things you do to your actual site, which you clearly have direct control over, and then the things you need to do which are off-site.  Building links is the main off-site activity that you will need to engage in.  As it is not possible to go into all aspects of SEO in one article, I will focus on link building as this is the main activity that will help your site rise up the search engine rankings.

Without lots of links from other sites to yours, your website will never appear at the top of the search engine results for any search phrase for which lots of other sites are competing.  It is fair to say that if your site does not appear in the top thirty results of a search, it may as well not exist.  In addition to that, I would say that the difference between being number ten and number one can make an enormous difference to the amount of traffic you get.  A huge number of people do not look further than the top three results

All links are not equal, and links from other sites that Google does not think are important will not count for much.  Neither will links from sites which are about a completely unrelated subject matter.  By far the most useful links you can have are those that come from sites which are about the same subject as your own, and which Google already considers to be an authority on that subject.  One good link is worth dozens of bad ones.

SEO is a vast subject, and the first thing you need to do is read up on it.  It involves a lot of work to get your site to the top of the search results, but it can be done, and there are various useful tools available which can help to speed up the whole process and guide you through the steps you need to take.

Do not Let Search Engines Blacklist your Network Marketing Product Site!

Do not Let Search Engines Blacklist your Network Marketing Product Site!

Which Internet marketer has not heard the horror stories of the multi level marketing (MLM) newbie who struck out for her- or himself without much help from an up line and probably also by disregarding each and every ounce of good advice offered by many a website and tutorial and instead built a website advertising the product or service for sale? Yet to the fledgling marketer’s surprise, no hits are being registered and in spite of tweaking and pruning the site every which way from Sunday, the traffic is still only trickling in, most of it being accidental rather than targeted. The sad reality is simple: unbeknownst to the new network marketer, the lovingly crafted site she or he spent so much time working on was blacklisted! Do not let search engines blacklist your network marketing product site!

Granted, the fledgling marketer from the example above probably was not quite as pure as the driven snow and instead may have engaged, wittingly or unwittingly, in some rather shady online practices which most major search engines will view as an immediate reason to blacklist the site. Here are some examples:

* Perhaps the most egregious offense is the use of irrelevant keywords within the website’s metatags or even within the body of the site just to generate more hits. Thus, if you are working on promotion a network marketing product related to wellness, the inclusion of several highly searched key terms, such as cancer, heart attack, stroke, and various other ailments will get you blacklisted, especially if the wellness product is not at all tangentially related to any of these conditions.

* Submitting a website manually or automatically time and again to the same search engine is considered spamming. In the past it was done to ensure a higher ranking of the site, but with the modernization of the process, search engines are very sensitive to being spammed. Do it one too many times and your site will no longer be included in the search results.

* Beware the lure of the mirror site. Once again, this methodology is a blast from the past when it was thought to guarantee a higher ranking within the search engine’s ranking hierarchy. Yet with the advent of optimization procedures, mirror sites are considered to be a relic of the past and those who continue to utilize the technology that in the past allowed them to submit the exactly identical site with a different URL to a search engine will find that neither web address will be accepted.

There are a number of other tips, tricks, and schemes employed by those who design websites for their network marketing product. Do not fall for the lure of easy rankings at the expense of the integrity of your site. It is not just the search engine robots that catch on to your shenanigans, but it is also a more and more technologically astute populace that will realize your ploy and thus you will instantly lose a massive dose of credibility. This, in the Internet marketing business, is the death knell which must be avoided at all costs!

SEO Helps Your Site to be Indexed Accurately by the Search Engines

SEO Helps Your Site to be Indexed Accurately by the Search Engines

SEO, or search engine optimization, is a very important element in website design. SEO helps your site to be indexed accurately by the search engines like Google, so that your potential clients and customers can find you when they search on keywords that are relevant to you. SEO incorporates several different elements to ensure that your site always appears in searches when related keywords have been entered – keywords that can be associated with your website.

Web design tools will often help you to enter specific data related to your website while you are still in the design process. Called Meta data, these pieces of information that you enter can provide relevant keywords to search engines so that they know how to find and index your site and, when appropriate, to list your site in response to searches conducted.

When you are beginning to look for web design tools, look at web design software ratings that are listed on reputable technology websites.
For more details go to: www.offline-promotion.com if written reviews are supplied, ensure that you weed out the relevant reviews from the cranks and the plants. If a review is too complimentary or “effusive,” it is probably a plant. Likewise, if a review completely tears apart a software package, when most other reviews seem complimentary, it was probably entered by a crank. As an alternative, look at all of the reviews offered to understand the big picture of how useable and effective the web design tools you are evaluating may be.

Web design software can also include tutorials to help you understand how best to leverage SEO on your site by understanding how your site’s content is written. For instance, if a certain keyword or keyword phrase is used a certain percentage of the time, it can help the site to be better indexed by search engines. Some web design templates include counters to keep track of keywords so that you can know if your site has been designed in a targeted fashion.

Some search engines look for robust elements in the sites that they index most highly, as opposed to looking at just written content. You can use graphic design software or flash software to add a bit of flair to your website so that it is well-indexed by search engines. For can visit to: www.greatseosecrets.com the web design software that Adobe markets can also help you to piece together many creative elements, as can Xsitepro2 from its developers.

You don’t need name brand web design software to take advantage of search engine optimization tools, however. Many open source web design software platforms also include valuable SEO hints and tools that you can use in order to fully maximize the effectiveness of your website. Don’t discount a tool because it is free or open source. Instead, look into what options are offered and how you can best leverage or tweak those options to make your site more successful.

As a general rule of thumb, however, the more integrated SEO is into the main functions of your software, the easier and more effective it will be at improving your search engine optimization functionality.

Search engine optimization can be your most valuable tool that you leverage in building and marketing your website. By ensuring that your web design software includes SEO tools, you are well on the way to writing your own ticket to success.

Search Engines Optimization: How to Win the Race Between Search Engines

Search Engines Optimization: How to Win the Race Between Search Engines

The Search engine’s purpose is to provide useful, high quality and relevant information for any search term.  There is a real war between the search engines’ methods and algorithms and search engine optimizers. The result must be the user’s satisfaction: high quality web sites in high positions on the search engines lists.

Page Rank is an indicator that Google is using to measure web sites popularity. The algorithm to establish it is a secret, but it is easy to find that the most important factors can be the number of links leading to the website page and the Page Rank of the link’s source.

It looks like the most popular search engines are counting the links (incoming or outgoing) and considering their number like a vote for quality. In reality, not each link is equal in quality to the others.

Search engines are considering the link’s quality as very important; maybe this is the determinant factor to establish a page rank. Google is the first search engine taking this factor into account.

Search engine optimizers are trying to do their best to find the top quality links for their web sites. But there are many types of links. They must find the ones giving high ranks all the time. Everybody agrees that links from high quality web sites are a major gain for a page rank. There is also the possibility to build links from related sites.  In this situation, the sites must have many topics in common.

Google is developing clusters for specific topics. These clusters are hosting pages having inbound links from the sites having the same keywords. The best a search engine optimizer can do is to establish a link to one of these sites. The reason why it can be the best kind of link we can get is that the search engine will find the reference site relevant for the keywords demanded in this category.

If the search engine optimizer can include useful keywords in the text of the inbound link, he is in luck.

Reciprocal linking can be realized finding the non competitive and topic related web sites. If the search engine optimizer can realize an emails campaign, he can have good results in reciprocal links building.

The search engine optimizer has the possibility to write a personal email to a contact address or to the website’s owner. He can tell them that he appreciated their website so much that he included a review about it in his own website.

This is a very agreeable letter for anybody, even finding that, near the review, there is also the web site address. The possibility to have a reciprocal link, in this case, is 9%.

To increase your chances of getting reciprocal links with higher PRs, you should consider joining a linking directory. This can be achieved by exchanging links with other websites of similar content to your own. A great example of a linking directory is:

Classifications of Search Engines

Classifications of Search Engines

With a decent understanding of how search engines work and how people use those search engines, you can now concentrate on some more detailed information about these engines. For example, you already know that all search engines aren’t created equal, but did you know that there are different types, or classifications, of search engines? Read this secret seo tutorial below

A primary search engine is the type you think of most often when search engines come to mind. Some index most or all sites on the Web. For example, Yahoo! Google, and MSN are primary (also called major) search engines.

Primary search engines generate the majority of the traffic to your web site, and as such they will be the primary focus of your SEO efforts. Each primary search engine differs slightly from the others. For example, Lycos has been around much longer than Google, yet Google is the most popular search engine on the Web. Why is that? Most likely, it’s because people find that Google provides better search results.

The difference between those search results lies in the search algorithm used to create the search engine. Most primary search engines are also more than just search. Additional features such as e-mail, mapping, news, and different types of entertainment applications are also available from most of the primary search engine companies. These elements were added long after the search feature was established as a way to draw increasing numbers of users to the search engine. Although those features don’t change the way people search, they might affect which search engine people choose.

Google Overview
Each of the major search engines differs in some small way. Google is the king of search engines, in part because of the accuracy with which it can pull the results from a search query. Sure, Google offers all kinds of extras like e-mail, a personalized home page, and even productivity applications, but those value-added services are not what made Google popular.

What turned Google into a household word is the accuracy with which the search engine can return search results. This accuracy was developed when the Google designers combined keyword searches with link popularity. The combination of keywords and the popularity of links to those pages yields a higher accuracy rank than just keywords alone. Of course, it also helps that Google places paid advertisements in a separate part of the page, as obvious ads, and not as part of the actual search results.

However, it’s important to understand that link popularity and keywords are just two of dozens of different criteria that search engines can use in ranking the relevancy of web pages.

Yahoo! Overview

Most people know that Yahoo! is a search engine, but it’s also a web directory, which basically means that it is a list of the different web pages available on the Internet, divided by category and subcategory. In fact, few people know that Yahoo! started as the favorites list of the two young men who founded it.

Through the acquisition of companies like Inktomi, All the Web, AltaVista, and Overture, Yahoo! gradually gained market share as a search engine. Yahoo!, which at one time used Google to search its directory of links, now ranks pages through a combination of the technologies that it acquired over time. However, Yahoo!’s link-ranking capability is not as accurate as Google’s. In addition, Yahoo! has a paid-inclusion program, which some users think tends to skew search results in favor of the highest payer.

MSN Overview
MSN’s search capabilities aren’t quite as mature as those of Yahoo! or Google. As a result, MSN has not yet developed the in-depth link analysis capabilities of these other primary search engines. Instead, MSN relies heavily on web site content for ranking purposes. However, this may benefit new web sites that are trying to get listed in search engines. The link-ranking capabilities of Google and Yahoo! can preclude new web sites from being listed for a period of time after they have been created.

This is because (especially where Google is concerned) the quality of the link may be considered during ranking. New links are often ignored until they have been in place for a while. Because MSN relies heavily on page content, a web site that is tagged properly and contains a good ratio of keywords will be more likely to be listed — and listed sooner — by the MSN search engine. Therefore, though it’s not the most popular of search engines, MSN is one of the primaries, and being listed there sooner rather than later will help increase your site traffic. read more at Diet Plans Site

How To Add Your Website To Search Engines ? Google, Bing & Yahoo By Sam’s Web Guide

How To Add Your Website To Search Engines ? Google, Bing & Yahoo By Sam’s Web Guide

This is a quick tutorial done by Sam’s Web Guide on how to submit your websites to 3 of the major search engines – Google, Bing & Yahoo

It is very important to get your website listed in the major search engines. This is a basic free submission that allows web users to access your website through organic search, provided that their search keywords match the ‘crawler accessible’ content you have on your site and your website has already been crawled and indexed. (We will discuss key word selection and search engine optimization in another post) A crawler/bot is a term used for search engine applications that search the web in a methodical and automatic manner for websites and new content and creates an index of the sites found. A copy of your site is actually stored on the search engine servers for easy access later.

Let’s get to it:

For Google Submissions go to www.google.com/addurl/ and simply add your site in the form provided, as shown below.

Once you have entered your site’s URL, hit the submit button and you will be good to go.

An important note: It is not guaranteed that your site will be crawled immediately, or as stated by the search engines – “any at all” considering that there are millions of sites on the web and once you submit your site, the request gets placed in a queue. Generally, with my experience, they always do eventually crawl sites submitted. It could takes weeks before your site shows up in searches though.

Tip: Using the google webmaster tools and submitting a site map there will help google to index your site much faster. After creating a webmaster tools profile for your site here: www.google.com/webmasters select your site’s profile name and then at the lower right corner of the page you will see a link to submit a sitemap.

On Google’s submission site, you will find lots of other useful links and guidelines on how to manage your web presence and the associated rules. I chose to refer to Google first because they have the most in-depth explanations of the different web standards and how to ensure that your website is a success through search. Very user-friendly.

For Bing.com Submissions, Microsoft’s search brand, go to www.bing.com/docs/submit.aspx. The Bing brand is fairly new, but it does the job.

For Yahoo.com Submissions go to http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/submit.

Once you have submitted your site you are on your way to getting new visitors to your site. Do not take search for granted or rely on search alone to bring new site viewers though, as web search can be more competitive than what’s seen on the surface.

There are thousands of search engines active on the internet and manual submission on all may not be possible and some search engines are for specific types of content. If you wish to find more search engines, simply search for them or you may visit Search Engine Watch to see a more in-depth listing.
